#CampChronicles: 5 Basic Manners People Lack!

Hi guyssss…Feels so long since I posted last but it’s really just a week.  It feels long because I’ve been in NYSC camp since Monday and yes I was posted close by thanks to you guys and your prayers oo😂😂.

Anyways, in (almost) one week I have been in this camp, I have had to meet various kinds of people; the good,  the bad and the ugly😭. I cannot help but be ticked off by some annoying habits that some people have. So many people lack basic manners that everyone should have and it is sooo off putting. That is what I would be sharing with you today – five basic manners that people should have but I’ve seen that most actually lack 😏.

1. Keeping their environment clean.

This is one habit my university actually imbibed in me. I cannot comfortably litter the floor. I’d rather put it in my bag. Unfortunately, so many people don’t even think twice before littering even when there is a dustbin close by. Just one simple solution. If you can’t keep your gala wrapper in your bag, then don’t eat gala at all, simple!

2. Being polite.

Simple polite words like please and I’m sorry are just so hard for some people because of pride. Some people push you,  step on you, hit you and still find it hard to apologize. Some others want to ask you for something but cannot simply say please. Being polite and using polite words actually make you a nicer person overall.

3. Realizing when the other person is not interested in conversation.

I think some people actually know  and just choose to ignore the signs because you can’t miss the signs. How can you keep talking when you’re the one asking all the questions and answering them at the same time? Or the other person just keeps giving a fake smile to all your questions and answers. Some even keep talking when you’ve outrightly told them you’re not interested in the conversation. This is one of the basic manners we all need to have. The ability to recognize and respect when  someone else is not interested in the conversation you’re trying to start.

4. Proper toilet use😭😭

I really do not want to describe this because some people are eating while reading this but pleeeaaseeeee, if you can’t use the toilet properly, wait till you get to your own house. Don’t come and be spoiling public toilets for others with sense 🙄

5. Waiting for their turn.

I’ve suffered because of this. Nigerians don’t like to wait ooo 😭😭😭 and I’ve been forming good girl in this place always waiting my turn but I’ve come to realize that some people just don’t and cannot have sense. I don’t know why people don’t get that if everyone can just wait their turn, the process would be a lot faster. They’d rather make it rowdy and make the process longer for everyone. Pleaseeeee stop ‘chancing’ others abeg. Gaan queue🙄
These are just the basic things. There are lots more annoying things that people have done to me in this place but I guess that would be story for another day. The soldiers are already sending us out for another drill😭😭.

I know we’ve all had an experience or two with some manners-lacking individuals. Please share them with me in the comments section. I can’t wait to read. Thank you so much for reading.

P. S. I might not be posting for the next two weeks. This place is stress and network is a struggle but after these two weeks, I’ll be back,  better and more energized. Till then, stay cool, stay consistent and tell someone about this blog.

Much love 😍

Your tiny eyed storyteller.

  1. I can relate to virtually all of them especially: being polite, they are just never polite. They are asking for something and no please, no thank you, they behave as if its their right and its 100% annoying. I had to learn to deal with that rubbish during camp.
As for the toilet…people plenty, don’t expect it to be clean..just goan buy potty.
Well, as for the waiting for turn, this is just the beginning, don’t think it will change during C.D.S. because it won’t, people are just very annoying. They will be pretending to be impatient and be “chancing others”. Other annoying people wee nah join them saying that the 1st set wasn’t stopped, so, everybody nah has to start hustling, so that you won’t sleep there.
Nysc is basically survival of the fittest. So aunty Tomi, get ready to develop muscles 🙂

  3. Respect for other people’s property: Imagine sitting in a public transport vehicle and someone you don’t know is proudly reading your chats as if it’s both of you that are sharing the phone or worse, a new roomate of yours that isnt that close to you, just takes one of your most treasured personal belongings and uses if both of you contributed money to buy the thing

  7. The one of not getting message that someone is not intrested in a talk happened to me yesterday night. I am part of the OBS crew and that makes people attracted to me which leads to me being in conversations I may not be interested in. That guy that stressed me yesterday night, if you are reading this, please just know that I thought it was obvious I did not have the energy for you. You were really injecting my already tired self with more tiredness. Sigh. What shall I do?
