I want to meet Chimamanda!!! | #WinterABC #Day13

A genie appears, grants me a wish to choose one notable African personality I want to meet, what do you think my answer would be?

I feel like everybody that knows me personally will say SIMI. But my dears, you are wrong 😂. I definitely want to meet Simi but you know why I won’t use my genie wish on her? I’m 100% sure that I will still meet her someday. Yes. Full certainty. Don’t ask me how I know. I just know.

Now, let’s proceed. What’s my answer? It’s Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, hereinafter referred to as “The Queen”.

The Queen is a Nigerian author and she authored some of my favourite books, my favourite of all, being Purple Hibiscus. I have read that book an unhealthy number of times. As an aspiring author myself, I greatly look up to anybody that can evoke the kind of reaction that Purple Hibiscus evoked in me and to be completely honest, I just want to sit with her, pick her brain and occasionally look into her eyes and say “Wow! You are a queen.”

I want to physically experience the stuff that great authors are made of. I want to tell her I love everything that comes out of her pen. I want to tell her to never stop writing (not like my opinion is of that great importance 😂).

Let’s not get into The Queen’s work in feminism. She’s a feminist icon and her speech on feminism “We Should All Be Feminists” in 2012 sparked a global conversation on feminist issues. She had the world talking! Just like a true queen.

I just want to sit at the feet of (or beside, God-willing) The Queen and experience her wholly and truly.
